Digital Aesthetics in cooperation with the UK Film Council (in English)
The arrival of digital cinema was greeted as revolutionary for the filmmaking process with lower production costs, greater flexibility and new arenas for exhibition.

The UK Film Council embraced this independent spirit of digital filmmaking with a nationwide Digital Shorts scheme producing over 100 films per year.

But when it comes to the 'nuts and bolts' of production, how has this developing technology affected the methods and techniques by which we create and distribute our work? A panel of directors who have worked extensively with digital formats discuss what impact this has had on their filmmaking and whether there are signs of a new purely digital aesthetic.

Die Möglichkeit Filme digital zu drehen hat den Prozess des Filmemachens revolutioniert:
Plötzlich war es möglich mit sehr wenig Geld und großer Flexibilität Filme zu drehen.

Hat diese neue Technik nur die Methoden des Filmens verändert, oder gibt es eine eigenständige digitale Ästhetik? Eine Gruppe von Regisseuren, die viel digital gearbeitet haben, wird diese Fragen diskutieren.

Animation und Digitale Spezialeffekte mit 4K-Animation (auf Deutsch)

4K ANIMATION GMBH is active in the development and production of innovative digital special effects and three-dimensional character-animation for film and TV productions.

4K consist of a team of specialists with profound technical knowledge and experience in the fields of international film, TV and advert production.

A new production by 4K, which was nominated for the Adolf-Grimme-Preis this year, will be used as an example, to introduce and discuss new animation techniques.

Die Entwicklung und die Produktion von innovativen, digitalen Spezialeffekten und dreidimensionalen Charakter-Animationen für Film- und TV-Produktionen ist der Schwerpunkt der 4K ANIMATION GMBH in Berlin.

4K setzt sich aus talentierten und kreativen Spezialisten zusammen, die alle aus namhaften deutschen Effekt- bzw. Animationsfirmen kommen und über langjährige, umfassende bzw. technische Erfahrungen auf den Gebieten der Computer-Grafik bzw. –Programmierung internationaler Film-, TV- und Werbeproduktionen verfügen.

Am Beispiel einer aktuellen Produktion des u.a. auch für den diesjährigen Adolf-Grimme-Preis nominierten Wissensmagazins „Marvi Hämmer präsentiert National Geographic World“ werden aktuelle Animationstechniken vorgestellt und diskutiert.

Narrative Space in Cinema and Architecture with mesh design (in English)

Tom Duncan and Noel McCauley of mesh design work in the field of story telling through architecture and projected image.

“Narrative space” combines the objective dimensions of our surroundings with the experiential world of our emotional responses within the structure of a dramatic composition.

The combination of projected image and objective space achieves a powerful impact in the physical realm in the same way that the use of architectural space in cinema supports and establishes both character and narrative.

The theme of narrative space shall be illustrated with a selection of films and architectural projects.
